To help you choose, we’ve picked out a selection of the top hotels money can buy.

Le Saint Géran

If you want a hotel where nothing is too much effort for the staff, then this is the place to come.  With over 600 staff looking after the guests in the hotels 163 rooms, you’ll find that your every wish is catered for and you’ll be truly pampered.

There’s even a bath menu so you can choose which oils, candles and yummy treat you’d like if you’re lucky enough to be able to afford one of the luxury suites.  You’ll even find that the staff rushes to place a towel on the beach for you and supply you with cold water if you choose to venture outside

Le Touessrok

Set in a pristine stretch of white sandy coastline, the Le Touessrok Hotel is one of the world’s most luxurious spa hotels and has won a variety of awards, also making it onto the Conde Nast Traveller 2011 Gold List.

After a $50 million revamp around 10 years ago, the hotel underwent a metamorphosis into a contemporary and chic holiday destination.  For those with an unlimited budget, why not stay in one of the luxury suites on their own islet, decorated with modern art and featuring a beautiful open plan bathroom complete with stone bath.  The hotel even owns a private desert island for those wanting to get away from prying eyes.

Taj Exotica

Spread across 27 acres, and with stunning views over the Tamarin Bay, this 5 star luxury hotel has 65 villas – each with an open-side living area and private garden – and is certainly one of the most romantic hotels in Mauritius.

You’ll find beautiful Colonial inspired interiors with all the modern luxuries you’re used to such as plasma TV’s, DVD player and music system, wi-fi and a coffee machine for that morning espresso.

The Residence

Situated on the east coast of Mauritius, this refined hotel with its butler serviced rooms, beautiful plantation house décor and mile long stretch of white sandy beach, has been voted as one of the best in the country.

You’ll have staff dancing attendance on you throughout your stay as there are around 500 of them; all to make sure your stay is as perfect as possible.  Why not head to the hotels spa for an indulgent massage or facial and return to your room where a bath with rose petals and sweet smelling oils will await you courtesy of your butler.

The Oberoi

Set in 20 acres of sub-tropical, well manicured gardens and with its own private beach, the Oberoi resort offers all of the usual refinement of hotels in its class, along with a variety of water sports such as water skiing, diving, sailing and wind surfing.

You won’t find butlers here, but you will find a more personalised service which sees staff calling you by name and the chef offering to make you your favourite dish if you don’t like the sound of the food on the à la carte menu.

Le Prince Maurice

A beautiful and secluded hotel in extensive grounds which makes for a superb romantic getaway for those with a larger budget.  With its 350 staff and only 89 rooms, you’ll find the staff are super attentive and nothing is too much for them.

If you’re after peace and quiet away from it all then this is the place to come.  You’ll also find that some of the more expensive suites are built on stilts above the water – as is one of the two à la carte restaurants – making for a very sophisticated and luxurious holiday experience.

La Pirogue and The Sugar beach Resort

Let’s not forget these 2 hotels: La Pirogue and the Sugar beach Resort, both situated next to each other on the dry west coast. Find a review of each hotel here:
